5月30日から31日にかけて、鹿島市で開催された第42回鹿島ガタリンピックに関する一連の行事に本学の留学生4名が参加しました。ガタリンピックは、有明海の広大な干潟を舞台に行われる鹿島市の代表的なイベントで、主催団体からの依頼を受けて本学留学生が正式に参加をするのは今回で3回目となります

　4名全員にとって干潟での競技は初めての経験でしたが、泥の中で声を掛け合いながら競技に挑戦し、参加者同士の絆を深めました。出身国や所属は異なりますが、今回の参加を通して、留学生たちは佐賀ならではの自然や文化に触れ、地域社会とのつながりを実感するとともに、日本への理解を深める貴重な機会となりました。また、競技や宿泊を通して交流を深め、互いの文化や価値観への理解を広げることができました
　最後になりましたが、本行事の実施にあたり、ご支援・ご協力をいただいた地域の皆様ならびに関係者の皆様に、心より感謝申し上げます。
　以下、参加した留学生の感想を紹介します

　/From May 30 to 31, four international students from our university participated in a series of events related to the 42nd Kashima Gatalympics held in Kashima City. The Gatalympics is one of Kashima’s signature events, taking place on the vast tidal flats of the Ariake Sea. This marked the third time that international students from our university officially participated in the event at the invitation of the organizing committee

　For all four students, it was their first experience competing on the tidal flats. Despite the challenging conditions, they encouraged one another while taking part in the events, strengthening their bonds through teamwork and shared experiences.Although the students came from different countries and academic programs, this opportunity allowed them to experience the unique nature and culture of Saga, deepen their understanding of Japan, and develop stronger connections with the local community. Through both the competitions and the overnight stay program, they also had the chance to interact with one another and local residents, broadening their understanding of different cultures and values.

　Finally, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the local residents and organizers whose support and cooperation made this event possible.

 The Gatalympics was a very exciting event, and I was happy to have the opportunity to participate.

　今回、ガタリンピックに参加できて、とても楽しかったです。ホームステイでは、ホストファミリーと一緒にバーベキューをしたり、たくさん話したりしました。みなさんとても親切で、楽しい時間を過ごすことができました。

　次の日のガタリンピックもとても面白かったです。私はこのような活動に参加するのが初めてだったので、いい経験になりました。また、たくさんの人と知り合うことができて嬉しかったです。とても良い思い出に残る二日間でした。
/I had a wonderful time participating in the Gatalympics. During the homestay, I enjoyed having a barbecue with my host family and talking with them a lot. Everyone was very kind, and I was able to spend a truly enjoyable time with them.

 The Gatalympics on the following day was also very exciting. It was my first time taking part in this kind of activity, so it was a valuable experience for me. I was also happy to meet many new people.

 These two days were very memorable and will remain a special memory for me.

　ガタリンピックに参加して、とても楽しい一日を過ごすことができました。最初は泥の中で競技をすることに少し緊張しましたが、実際に体験してみると想像以上に面白く、夢中になって楽しみました。仲間と協力したり応援し合ったりする中で、一体感や達成感を感じることができました。ベトナムではなかなか経験できない貴重な体験となり、忘れられない思い出になりました。
 / I had a wonderful day participating in the Gatalympics. At first, I was a little nervous about competing in the mud, but once I actually experienced it, it was much more enjoyable than I had imagined, and I became completely absorbed in the activities.

 Working together with my teammates and encouraging one another gave me a strong sense of unity and accomplishment. It was a valuable experience that I would not normally have the opportunity to have in Vietnam, and it has become an unforgettable memory for me.
