アディロンダック・コミュニティカレッジ（ACC）の先生と学生が来学しました
アディロンダック・コミュニティカレッジ（ACC）の先生と学生さん10名が神埼キャンパスを訪れ、1年前にACCへの短期留学に参加した4名を含む西九大生7名が出迎えました。「お久しぶりって英語でどう言うんだっけ？」と緊張気味にバスを待っていた西九大生もACCでお世話になった先生や友人が“Hello”とバスから降りてきた瞬間、笑顔とBig hugで再会の時を楽しんでいました。ランチ交流では、グループに分かれ、英単語＋身振り手振りでのコミュニケーションで交流を深めました。その後、弓道場に移動し、主将による説明とデモンストレーションがあり、ACCの皆さんは弓道の作法を興味深く見学され、さまざまな質問をされました。お見送りの頃には、バスがなかなか出発できないほどすっかり打ち解けあっていたACC生と西九大生でした。
Faculty and students from Adirondack Community College (Queensbury, NY) visited the Kanzaki Campus
On June 3, 2010, ten faculty and students from Adirondack Community College (ACC) in Queensbury, NY visited the Kanzaki Campus. The visitors were met by smiles and big hugs from seven students from Nishikyushu University, four of whom had taken part in a short-term exchange program at ACC in 2009. Students and faculty talked over lunch in the university canteen and then walked up to the kyudo archery range where they enjoyed an explanation and demonstration of traditional Japanese archery by the university team captain. Although it was only a short visit, everyone had a fun time and the students were reluctant to say goodbye when the time came for the bus to leave.
参加学生の感想
今回の国際交流の感想は、「とにかく楽しかった」の一言につきます。中でも、日本文化にとても興味を持たれていて、西九州大学についても知ろうとされていたことには驚きました。また、英語ができないため、本当に交流できるか不安でしたが、言葉が通じなくても、お互いを知ろうという気持ちがあれば、心と心を通わせることができるということを学ぶことができました。

This international exchange was above all a lot of fun. We were surprised and happy to find that the ACC students were interested in Japanese culture and also in learning more about Nishikyushu University. We can’t speak much English and we were worried if we would be able to communicate at all, but we learnt that if both sides want to know about each other then it is possible to build bonds of understanding.
